My Recommended Tools

These are all items that I own and would recommend.

If you are joining me in online classes on Substack, I would really recommend getting yourself some yoga blocks if you don't already have them. We use them regularly in class. They help support you in positions that may otherwise be difficult. They help align you. They enable you to get a deeper stretch.

If you've been to a physical class and want to practice at home (which is always good), then blocks are always a great place to start.

I'm often asked which are the best ones to get, so below is my list: blocks, straps, mats, and knee cushions

Click through the links on the images or item names to take you through to the item on Amazon.

I do make a little from Amazon if you buy through the link but it makes no difference to what you pay 😊

Blocks I use in classes

These blocks are not the most aesthetic, nor are they made from sustainable materials. I am recommending them for their functionality.

They are soft and great for using under your knees.

They are also very light in weight and easy to transport.

I would definitely recommend them for beginners.

Cork Blocks

These blocks are made from cork, look nice and are very functional. They are also much more durable than the EVA blocks.

They are however a lot heavier and have no give so not comfortable for using under the knees. Great for solid long lasting support.

They also come with a great 8ft strap - this is the first set of blocks and strap I bought - great buy!

Everyday mat similar to the ones I use in class

This is a TPE mat, full length, similar to the ones I use in class

6mm thick so a nice cushion and comes with a carry strap so its easy to store away - good price too.

Travelmat.jpg

Ideal mat for travel

This is a bit more pricey but I treated myself to it recently when going to Spain.

Its only 1mm thick so doesn't give any cushioning but I took it in a small carry-on case along with 2 of the EVA blocks - very light weight and easy to take anywhere with you.

Cork Mat as a more long-lasting option

If you want a very durable and also eco-friendly mat, this is a good option. Its 6mm thick so has good cushioning for a cork mat, its absorbent, non-slip and just feels nice to stretch on.

Knee/Elbow Floor Pads for a bit more cushioning

These are like circles of thick mat that you can use under your knees or elbows either on top of your mat for a bit more comfort if you need it or instead of a mat.

Also great for travel if you don't want to take a mat

Yoga straps I use in class

This is very similar to the straps I use in class - they are 6ft long which is normally sufficient. If you are tall then 8ft is a better option

They are strong and durable.
